Just in case anyone else on here has had the same problem, this is a thread I posted on Microsoft Answers forum, but have not received any advice that works. If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated!
On my old Windows XP Desktop I had multiple music folders, I could select the folders I wanted to play in WMP, and it found and played every song in every folder.
Last year I purchased a new Dell with Windows 7 64bit, and all music folders were imported to an "Old System Backup" folder. I just left them there, brought up WMP and added those folders to the Music Library Locations, thinking it would work the same as the old system. It does not.
It is difficult to tell how it works actually, because only some of the songs in one of the folders are listed in WMP. None from the music in other folders is listed at all. I decided to combine all songs into one single All Music folder, and move it from the Old System Backup folder to a C:\users\Me\All Music folder. I changed the Music Library Locations in WMP to that folder, rebooted WMP, rebooted machine, and now I have no songs listed at all... So I googled and found other users with the same problem:

I have read through all of these threads (and a few others), tried every method of getting WMP to recognize my Music Library folder, and nothing works. Here are my current settings:
1. Windows Explorer > Libraries > Music > All Music (C:) (Properties are C:\Users\Me) 1800 songs listed in the folder
2. WMP 12 - Organize > Manage Libraries > Music > Music Library Locations > All Music (Properties are C:\Users\Me\All Music)
3. WMP 12 - When I click on Music in the left nav window, it shows at the top: > Library > Music > All Music
4. Windows Media Center > Media Libraries shows the C:\Users\Me\All Music added to the Music Library.
It appears everything is in sync, but still no songs load in WMP. What else must I do to get WMP 12 to recognize that folder and ALL of my songs?? If I can ever get it to work, I swear I will never change this music folder again!
This new method of managing our music files, has dramatically complicated our PC use. I am on my 2nd day of trying to get this to work. Please tell me what else I can do to fix this?

I looked and all music folders on my HD are set to Music.
I just ran the program to Index all folders, and now WMP at least shows the Playlists that are listed in the old My Music folder--the one it used to list at least some of the songs in it. WMP seems to be stuck on that old folder, no matter what I do... But now that I have manipulated libraries and folders trying to get WMP to add them, it won't even list songs in that old folder either, just the playlists now...
