It's an attack where multiple computers attack a target by overwhelming it with all sorts of messages, connection requests, malformed packets, etc. Networks / servers are typically designed to handle an upper limit of bandwidth, but when that is intentionally overwhelmed with the sole purpose of bringing its response time to a screeching halt, it's called a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack.Mackenzzie wrote:sounds pretty nasty, sorry but what actually is DDOSing?
The same outcome can happen accidentally as well when a network (for whatever reason) has a sudden, overwhelming surge of traffic - i.e., the day healthcare.gov went live.
